+ Don't play it, don't touch it, don't fuck with it. Don't twist, turn, or rotate your piercing. This is the absolute worst things you can do with your piercing. It is also one of the reasons why we don't initially pierce you with a ring. Moving the jewelry during the healing process reopens the wound, migrating the dirt that's collected on the jewelry into this open wound. The comparison is picking a scab and rubbing dirt into it. This will greatly delay the healing process.
+ Do a warm salt water soak once a day for five days.
Most piercers will tell you to do some kind of saline solution soak once or twice a day. Depending on the quality of the initial jewelry, this can cause some problems. High nickel, high nickel emulsion count jewelry will break down under the salt soaking which will release a lot of nickel into your body. This can promote an autoimmune, auto rejection response. Doing the salt water soak with jewelry that is not surgical insertion quality stainless steel, can create problems. + Mix half of a tablespoon of sea salt or iodized salt and a cup of warm water and soak your piercing for 10 seconds
Salt water is an aggressive inert solvent that will dissolve the dead white blood cells and plasma adhering to the jewelry, therefore cleaning the jewelry. It also has an iodized component that will break down surface bacteria. However, salt water is a drying agent, which will create a hard scabby heal. Here, at Fenix Tattoo, we will give you ointment to help with that dryness.
+ If any dryness appears, apply a small amount of A&D ointment on the piercing.
+Piercing should heal within 3-10 days.
